Morelia, Michoacán.- The State Road Safety Group of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) will no longer be able to apply fines, now the agents will be limited to safeguarding the safety of people who travel on state roads, said Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla.
The president explained that reforms were made to the regulations of the Civil Guard, with which, the Traffic Directorate is unified with the State Highway Police, therefore, the new grouping is created that will maintain the powers it had, except for infractions, therefore, “no more bites, no more corruption”, Said.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Government, Elías Ibarra Torres, also made it clear. “Zero bites, zero moches and zero infractions in all areas of the Civil Guard of Michoacán”, after explaining that this new group will focus on the development of sustainable school mobility campaigns and programs and the application of theoretical-practical exams to obtain driver’s licenses.
Likewise, he said that he will develop the application of the measures that establish state mobility and road safety strategies, as well as sensitivity exams for those drivers who suffered the suspension or withdrawal of points on their driver’s license.
Likewise, Ibarra Torres announced that the Ministry of Public Security may sign agreements with municipalities that require it, so that the personnel of the SSP carry out municipal traffic attributions and that the infraction tickets held by the elements of the State Traffic Directorate will be canceled.
