High schools recover from pandemic, increase their enrollment by 6.9% – MonitorExpresso.com

Morelia, Michoacán.- High school subsystems in Michoacán increased student enrollment by 6.98 percent after the Covid-19 pandemic, reported the head of the State Institute of High School and Higher Education, Mariana Sosa Olmeda.
In a meeting with Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, the Secretary of Education, Gabriela Molina Aguilar and directors of Conalep, Cecytem, Colegio de Bachilleres and Telebachillerato, it was stated that the number of students went from 156 thousand 813 to 167 thousand 753 during the 2022-2023 school year.
In addition, 2,136 students in 129 schools were recovered, and the goal is to keep young people in the classroom, lowering failure rates and improving terminal efficiency.
In this regard, the governor asked to continue the consolidation of this educational sector with academic programs that encourage the interest of students with careers related to the productive vocations of each region.
He added that this year resources from the State Contributions Fund for the Infrastructure of Municipal Public Services (Faeispum) were labeled for educational works, so he invited the directors to socialize projects with the municipalities to strengthen the subsystems.
The president also requested to review the income of the subsystems and implement Digital Government to facilitate the payment of services to students, which will bring transparent exercises and avoid corruption in procedures.
