The Senate approved three international agreements

The Senate of the Nation began the special session in which the Decree of Necessity and Urgency 70/2023 that deregulates the economy will be discussed. The opposition obtained a quorum with 45 senators. During the session, three international agreements were approved this afternoon with the People’s Republic of China, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. He also gave the green light to authorize President Javier Milei to leave Argentina during 2024. The agreements with China and Turkey include the avoidance of double taxation of income taxes and the prevention of tax evasion and avoidance. The United Arab Emirates focuses on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments. In addition, the Upper House approved the amendment to the Law on the Prevention and Suppression of Money Laundering, Financing of Terrorism and the Financing of the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction. In this way, he gave the green light to the project that was approved by the Senate’s Justice and Criminal Affairs and Budget and Finance committees. The Minister of Justice, Mariano Cuneo Libarona, was personally involved in promoting the initiative and spoke with senators who had doubts about the project. The initiative, approved by Deputies in April 2023, was part of the last understanding signed by Argentina with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and includes the suggestions of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Earlier, the authorization for President Javier Milei to leave Argentina during 2024 was also approved.
