home Michoacán Deputies approve proposal to delete name of Michoacancraftsman’s Institute

Michoacán de Ocampo.- Through a statement it was reported that the Congress of the State of Michoacán approved the agreement declaring the final archive of the initiative with draft decree reforming various articles of the Law on Development and Development State Handcrafted.
The opinion prepared by the Committee on Culture and the Arts, in relation to the proposal presented by the then member of the parliamentary group of PRD Azael Toledo Rangel, sought to delete the name of Instituto del Artesano Michoacano to rename it Casa Michoacan Crafts.
In this sense, once the study and analysis of the initiative was completed, the members of the ruling commission determined that it is not feasible, because the Michoacan Craftsman’s Institute has the function of preserving and disseminating artisanal folk art elaborated in each corner of the state.
It also emphasizes that in 2015, the House of Crafts changed its name to the Institute of the Michoacan Craftsman, with the aim of privileging not only the training of the craftsman, in the elaboration of pieces but in the training of artisan entrepreneurs.
Therefore, changing the name of the Institute of the Michoacan Craftsman, to that of Casa de las Artesanías Michoacán, is not considered to generate an roots or identity, among the Michoacan artisans.
