Father Chilo and his struggle against the unbaptized

There are young people who make fun of the old, perhaps they ignore that whoever reaches senescence, went through youth, and that the path is the same by parejo. Last week José Isidro Guerrero Macías, better known as Father Chilo, or Father Siri, left earthly life, was 71 years old, was ordained a priest in Culiacán on June 27, 1977, and bishop of the diocese of Mexicali on May 31, 1997, until his death. He was originally from Iraguato, a syndicate of Sataya Navolato, where he stopped every end of the year to live with his people, there he managed to build a very large church and left unfinished a work that aimed to rescue young drug addicts to channel them to the path of service to others. He loved the sport of soccer, and part of his mission was to form teams on the ranches of the municipality of Navolato, which he supported with uniforms and balls every time he visited his region. Every end of the year he moved from Mexicali to Iraguato and from there he toured each town, where he gave himself the task of baptizing, confirming, imparting communion and marrying couples who lived in free union. There were hundreds of heretics that Father Chilo met as he passed through the villages of the coast of Navolato, and about five years ago we asked him: “Hey father, and do you charge for this baptisms and all that?” “Listen to me, listen to me,” he replied, “Do you think that priests live on pure charity or what?” … What a hard blow!
