Government will request explanations from the Armed Forces for acting out of time during a triple arson attack in Curanilahue

The Government reacted with indignation to the latest precedents that surround the triple arson attack that was registered this past Tuesday in the commune of Curanilahue, Bío Bío region.
According to the information, released by Radio Biobío, the affected company, Arauco, warned in time the forces of Order and Security that those responsible for the arson attack, who were armed, were moving to the scene of the events.
“By 10 a.m. we had already alerted the Armed Forces about the attack, including the possibility of following the truck they stole through a GPS system,” a company source told the aforementioned media.
“At 11 a.m. we informed them about the escape route they were using, and at 1:30 p.m. they arrived near Cañete. It was more than 3 hours of tracking his movements. In this period they even took the time to stop to eat at a kind of picnic,” he added.
As a result of this information, the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, will request explanations from the Armed Forces (FFAA), after it was known that they did not act in time in the face of the repeated warnings.
“No institution in Chile is oblivious to giving explanations,” he said.
“The presence of the Armed Forces, or the police, is to act in a timely manner and to guarantee the safety of people (…) therefore to me, at least, it deserves an explanation,” said the undersecretary.

In that line, he added that on Thursday, the day on which the evaluation meeting between the Government and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is held, space will be given for explanations.
