Copa Libertadores: Flamengo and Corinthians begin to define the quarterfinals

In the match that will open the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores de America, Flamengo will host Corinthians today, with the advantage of the 2-0 victory obtained last week in São Paulo, in search of meeting the first semifinalist. In this way, the match will take place from 21.30 at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro, with refereeing by Uruguayan Esteban Ostojich, and will be televised by Fox Sports and Star +. The “Timao”, which will have the presence of the Argentine Fausto Vera as a starter, will try to reverse an unfavorable series after the 2-0 defeat suffered in São Paulo. While Flamengo is emerging as one of the candidates for the title, with a team full of figures such as the recent additions: the striker Éverton and the Chileans Arturo Vidal and Erick Pulgar.

However, in the Brazilian championship, Corinthians remains the only escort of Palmeiras (six points) and Flamengo climbed to fifth position (three behind “Timao”) after five wins in a row. The winner of the series will play one of the semifinals against an Argentine team: Talleres de Córdoba or Vélez Sarsfield. The first legs of the semi-finals will be played from August 31 and the rematches a week later. Finally, the only final would be on October 29 at the Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo stadium, in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
