Seven people, including a minor, were killed in the community of El Durazno, in the municipality of Coyuca de Catalán, Guerrero.
According to the newspaper Noroeste, alleged members of La Nueva Familia Michoacán, whose leaders are brothers Jhonny and José Alfredo Hurtado Olascoaga, alias “El Pez” and “El Fresa,” took the victims from their private homes to take them to the field of a school in that community, where they were murdered.
The Secretariat of Public Security of Guerrero deployed an operation after receiving a citizen report on the facts. Civil and military authorities went to the place.
“On instructions from the Governor, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, the civil and military authorities go to the area to attend to the citizens. The deployment of security personnel will take place in that community and surrounding areas,” a statement said.

After what happened, residents blocked the Acapulco-Zihuatanejo highway to demand that the authorities attend to the case and find those responsible.

After the blockades, the Secretary of Security of Guerrero arrived in the community of El Durazno to talk with the residents.

Violence in Guerrero
The murder of the 7 people occurs one day after the attack against Diana Costilla Villanueva, mayor of the Juan R. Escudero municipality, in Guerrero.
The Coordination Table for the Construction of Peace in Guerrero condemned the attack and reported that the mayor was unharmed and that the security elements receive medical attention.
According to the authorities of Guerrero, the attack occurred at 1 am this Friday at kilometer 5 of the Tierra Colorada-Ayutla highway before the Omitlán Bridge, south of the municipality of Juan R. Escudero, when “the detonations of firearms that came from the hill were recorded.”
