Freeks: we talked to its protagonists who told us which musicians were inspired by

Freeks, the new Disney + series is now available with all its episodes to marathon this weekend and delve into this story full of rock, love and mystery. Starring Guido Pennelli, Julián Cerati, Alan Madanes, Pablo Turturiello and Gastón Vietto who face 5 boys who are part of “Freeks” a rock band that will have its leap to fame, after a viral incident and that its leader Gaspar (Pennelli) was accused of theft and leaves the group. After these incidents the boys will face the honeys of abrupt success, while Gaspar will embark on the search for the truth and find the real culprit of having kept the collection of the band. And about this and some other things, was that we chatted with its protagonists who, unlike in Freeks, have an incredible chemistry. The first thing I wanted to know was what music meant to each of them and if they had to learn to play an instrument to carry out their characters.-Is it true that they played instruments for the series that are not the ones they usually play? The first to take the floor is Guido Penelli who begins by saying: -“Yes, look at my main instrument, if you like, it’s the drums, because it’s the first thing I started playing as a kid. But between 6 and 10 I already discovered the guitar and I loved it. So you can say it’s my second instrument,” he said. And yes, we have recorded the voices of all the songs, which are 7 that are released simultaneously with the series, “he says about the soundtrack that is already available on all platforms to enjoy the album that contains songs such as: “Torcer el rumbo”, “Quieres de mí”, “Estaré aquí”, “Brujería”, “Solo tú”, “Ya no hay vuelta atrás” and “Será lo que será”, where the boys display all their talent. For his part, Alan Madanes told us: “I play several instruments, I play piano, guitar, bass, drums, those four typical band classics I handle, but I am not a bass player, and for the series I not only had to be a bass player, but also give it all the imprint that it needed, “he explains about his character who will also embark on a love triangle. Alan Madanes – España | Photo courtesy of Disney+”And my character Ludovico is special, you saw for me he is like the archer, the one who wins the most. But it was really nice because it happened to us a lot in the rehearsals that we exchanged the instruments between us and we started playing, “he said about the exchange of roles with those who played between scenes. Gastón Vietto, in turn, spoke of the experience of making Freeks and allowing yourself to enjoy to create: “In the end it ends up being a beautiful experience. And we also have, I do not say easy, but encouraging us to be with a new instrument, adapt to the essence of that instrument and the musician who carries that instrument. It’s a challenge because you not only have to play but believe, in my case to be a drummer, “he completes in line with what his colleagues said. Gastón Vietto – España | Photo: courtesy of Disney+And closes: “And well one as an actor is also putting his seasonings of the personality of the role that touched us.” However, Julián Cerati, the only one of the boys who did not have so much experience at the musical level said: “Well I play the Congo Harp,” he says jokingly to join the talk, but here in the series he played me the guitar, but it is still very similar, “he says, tempting his colleagues. Alan interrupts to put cold cloths in the talk and highlight the work of Juli, who plays a role, somewhat unfriendly, and with Ulises will be the counterfigure of Gaspar: “I want to say that the work that Juli sent, of having benched all these musicians that we are heavy, and everything we play and we will want to change and move”, He started by scoring. Julian Cerati – España | Photo: courtesy of Disney+Y praised and highlighted the work of his partner: “Juli did a spectacular job, and beyond his character he got fully involved with the guitar. We started rehearsing two months before we actually played, and when it came time to record Juli was seen differently, and you could see the growth from when we started to how he finally got to the recording, “he acknowledged. Julián: “I never dedicated myself to music, I studied singing, guitar, but always on the interpretative side and the musical is added when the interpretative requires it. And the kids gave me a lot of endurance, a lot of classes, and well it’s about enjoying it too and enjoying it and I took it that way.” And if we talk about music I asked the boys if when composing their characters they were inspired by someone in particular and the actThey did not skimp on answering and marveling among themselves at the names chosen. Once again, Guido took the floor and related the process he made of observation and study of the personality and imprint of Michael Hutchence, who after talking with the director took as inspiration to give a shape to Gaspar, his character.-Yes, well in my case, we talked about it with one of the directors and we talked a lot about Gaspar, about the character, and who I had as a reference.  And the singer of INXS was who I took as a reference. He told me well, visualize one and let’s face it,” he explained. While he made the caveat: “We talked a lot about him, we watched documentaries, and obviously Gaspar was not equal to Michael Hutchence. But we also looked at what things could differentiate my character from him.” There, Gastón commented that Gaspar took very well the grip of the guitar and the posture of the musician: “It is worth noting the grip of the guitar, it is not a minor fact”, there they told us that Guido is left-handed and the idea was raised that he learn to play with the right, but finally it was discarded. Alan added his own and told what his inspirations were: “I got into the world of bass players, and to try to play that role to the fullest, you saw to be a little further behind. I always in the musical projects that I faced, personal or in life I was more at the forefront with the guitar singing and then I got to see, from the craziest things, jumps and the things I wanted to put in, “he says. In that line he confessed that musician caught his attention: ” Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers seemed like a good data to play. I like the most classic rock like AC / DC I followed a lot to Cliff Williams who is the bass player of the band and he is in a much quieter imprint. ” And about the interpretation he needed to give life to Ludovico he added: “And in the game I have with Gaspar or with Ulysses to sing, obviously I studied Paul McCartney to see how to play with the microphones. We have many scenes where we played like this and I faced the number 1, humble the kid to say let’s start with something, “he says laughing and gesturizing to be number 1.However, Gastón said that for him the process was different since his character goes through other personal issues and focused on that: “I honestly did not take any reference, because I think that as much as Juani is a drummer, I don’t know if he has a drummer’s soul, it is understood.” It’s not a drummer’s hunger, you saw, and it’s not because he doesn’t want to, but because he goes to a more subtle side, he molds and as things happen to the band he also makes friends with this to become known. But the kid goes the other way, in reality, he likes to make music and capable that is the instrument he now has and is the drummer, but Juani, my character does not get on the attitude of saying “I am the drummer of Freeks”, he remarked.
-“Well, the same thing happens to me as to Juani, I think with another objective, another goal, but Ulises I do not know how far passion is what moves him, but it is a means to achieve what he wants to achieve,” he analyzes about his character. ” In my case the guitar has taken it from many people and has taken advantage of that ability to put their goals into play. That in this case they pass through another side, perhaps their dream is not so collective, “he warns, anticipating a little the nature of Ulysses. It’s a more personal dream and a lack of his own, and the band’s vehicle helps him reach that goal. So I don’t think there’s just one musician is a bit the excuse he uses to show off and get where he wants to go and absorbs from all the places he can. But I think his musician would be Ricky Martín,” he says, causing laughter and surprise from his colleagues. Freeks is now available on the Disney+ platform with its 13 episodes so you can play it and do not stop until you get to the truth, also listening to incredible music since in the series it sounds from Soda Stereo to the Green Dwarfs and has two covers of these bands so emblematic of the Latin American music scene. Also completing the cast are Marcelo de Bellis (“Ricardo”), Malena Ratner (“Nina”), Julia Tozzi (“Gisela”), Agustina Cabo (“Isabella”), Pablo Sultani (“Oso”), Tupac Larriera (“Mauricio”), Malena Narvay (“Charo”), Santiago Stieben (“Blas”), Yamila Safdie (“Camila”), Mariana Torres (“Laura”) and Alejandro Müller (“Enzo”).
