On receiving the award, Ricky said, “As an artist, I believe it is my responsibility to use my voice to make a positive impact on the world, especially at a time when human rights around the world are in historic danger.” The singer also emphasized the importance of the Puerto Rican museum as a platform to explore and share the rich national culture with the world. Actor, composer and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, known for his hit musical “Hamilton,” was honored to present him with the award.
