Axel Kicillof obtained the approval of the Tax Law and the request for indebtedness

In a session that lasted until the early hours of the morning, the Buenos Aires Legislature approved with an unexpected consensus the Fiscal Tax Law and the request for debt for USD 1,800 million, after complex negotiations between the ruling party and different opposition sectors. Support for the project not only came from the usual sectors such as the PRO, the Civic Coalition and a sector of the UCR, but also had the key support of a libertarian bloc, generating a milestone in the legislative process. The governor, in a message posted on social media, stressed the importance of laws being discussed and approved within the scope of the Legislature, referring to the agreement reached, subtly alluding to previous criticisms from other political leaders. It is excellent news for the people of Buenos Aires to be able to count on these laws that allow us to continue working for their future and move forward with a more progressive tax structure, which charges more to those who have more,” he wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter). “Unlike Milei, we managed to get laws dealt with and approved in front of the Legislature, not behind our backs,” he concluded. In the last hours before the session, the La Libertad Avanza bloc, made up of figures such as Carlos Kikuchi, who was close to Milei in the past, but currently distanced himself from the president, joined the agreement. Although they voiced objections to certain sections of the tax law, their overall support was crucial in reaching the two-thirds needed for passage.
